Asda joins bustling Calthorpe Estates

A NEW Asda Express store has welcomed customers to Calthorpe Estates as part of a major UK expansion from the supermarket chain.

The 4,000 sqf premises on the Pershore Road is one of 110 Asda Express convenience stores set to open across the UK this month, boasting new features designed to enhance shopper experience, such as a LEON coffee station and bakery.

Asda is the latest store to occupy Pershore Road and will cater local students from Vita student accommodation opposite, in addition to residents and businesses from the local community.

Within the overarching Pebble Mill masterplan planning, the store was conceived and approved to cater for staff and visitors of the wider medical park also, including the award-winning NHS Birmingham Dental Hospital & School of Dentistry, the 62-bedroom Bupa care home, Circle Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre, and the final plot development still to come, the approved 114,000 sqf state-of-the-art medical facility on Plot 4.

Located just two minutes away from the world-famous Edgbaston Cricket Stadium though, fans in search of a refreshment before or after a game will be inundated with choice from the wide selection available at the new store.

This latest addition will support the varied community in the Calthorpe Estate and provide a one-stop-shop full of variety for residents and workers in the area. Asda joins a long list of established eateries, independent businesses and well-known chains within Calthorpe Estates that proudly call the area home.

A LEON coffee station and a fresh bakery can be found in the store and will act as a ‘top-up’ shop for essentials, as well as providing quick dinner ingredients for commuters on-the-go. The store will stock around 3,000 branded and own-label products to cater for all in the local community, whatever the occasion. Now open to the public, the store’s opening hours have been confirmed as 6am – 11pm, seven days a week.

Asda is located on the Pershore Road, alongside Vita student accommodation, easily accessible from the main Pebble Mill Medical Park via a footbridge over the River Rea. Furthermore, It’s within easy walking distance of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, University of Birmingham, and only a mile from the city centre situated on a main arterial road.
